One of the great aspects of trail and ultramarathon running is the camaraderie among runners.  PCTR events are challenging and all participants share a common goal: to achieve something difficult and rewarding.   We believe that trail runners can run competitively and still maintain the friendliness and sportsmanship that we enjoy at PCTR events.

 

The 2008 PCTR Race Series consists of the following 6 categories:

  • Grand Prix

    -  Includes the following events:

            • Diablo 50 Mile Endurance Run

            • Lake Merritt Half Day

            • Headlands Hundred

            • SF One Day

    -  The Headlands Hundred and the SF One Day are each worth double points.

     

  • Mini Prix

    - Includes the following events:

            • Diablo Marathon

            • Lake Merritt 6 Hour

            • Headlands 50 Mile Endurance Run

            • SF 12 Hour

    -  The Headlands 50 Mile and the SF 12 Hour are each worth double points.

     

  • Ultra

    - Includes all of PCTR's 50 Km events

    - 27 events

     

  • Trail Run

    - Includes all of PCTR's middle distance trail runs

    - 16 Km to 37 Km distances

     

  • Southern/Central California - Ultra

    - Includes all 50 Km events in Southern & Central California

    - 5 events

     

  • Southern/Central California - Trail Run

    - Includes all middle distance trail runs in Southern & Central California

    - 16 Km to 37 Km events

     

Participation: All PCTR runners are automatically included in the PCTR Race Series. 

Points:  For each event, points will be given to the first eight male and first eight female overall and in each age group (< 30, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, & 60+) as follows:

  •  1st = 10 points

  •  2nd = 8 points

  •  3rd = 6 points

  •  4th = 5 points

  •  5th = 4 points

  •  6th = 3 points

  •  7th = 2 points

  •  8th = 1 point

AwardsFor each category, custom awards and Race Series shirts  will be given to the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place male & female finishers.

Categories:

Award winners are required to earn points in at least 2 events in the respective series.  Overall 1st place winners do not qualify for age-group awards.  Tie scores will go to the runner who scored the points in the fewest events and then best placings, when possible.  Note that your age group will be determined based on your age at the time you participate in your 1st PCTR event in 2008.  In addition, several awards will be given to runners who have best exemplified the Serious Fun attitude throughout the year.
