Whether you're considering trail running for the first time or are an experienced ultra runner, we promise you a rewarding experience in a beautiful environment.

 

We are recognized for the spectacular courses, unsurpassed aid stations, well-marked trails, accurately measured distances, distinctive shirt designs, and friendly atmosphere – all at a reasonable price.

 

While awards are given to the first female and male finishers, PCTR events are designed to encourage the enjoyment of trail running and emphasize personal achievement.

 

Start:    Harvey West Park, Santa Cruz, CA.  Directions

Course:     The trails wind through 300 foot tall, 1500 year-old Coastal Redwoods, lush stream canyons, open meadows, pine and oak forests, and high dry chaparral-covered ridges.  The views of Monterey Bay are spectacular!   (Distances are accurately measured using a Rolatape® surveyor's measuring wheel.)

                    10 Km -      800'

                    21 Km -   2,490'

                    29 Km -   3,315'

                    50 Km -   5,805'

                    (Elevation changes determined using an Avocet altimeter.) 

Weather:  Santa Cruz

Lodging:  Hotels/Motels, Camping

Packet Pick-Up:  7:30 a.m. - 8:15 a.m. at Harvey West Park.

Time Limit:  There is an 9-hour time limit for the 50 Km distance.

Aid Stations:  Fully-stocked aid stations every 7 - 11 kilometers.  You can expect fresh fruit, salty snacks, assorted candy, boiled potatoes & salt, water, and Clif Shot Electrolyte sports drink. If you would like to be sure that you have Clif product, SaltStick capsules, or any other specific item at the event, you should carry it with you. Additionally, it is highly recommended that runners carry at least 20 oz. of water between aid stations.  Photo

Awards:  Shirts will be given to all finishers.  While awards are given to the first female and male finishers, PCTR events are designed to encourage the enjoyment of trail running and emphasize personal achievement.

Frequent Runner:

  • 5% - If you have already entered at least 3 PCTR events this year, you qualify to receive a 5% discount off all PCTR events and merchandise for the rest of the year. Please request to upgrade your online account by clicking on the link under "Account Menu" in online registration.

(Add $5 if registering after September 13, 2008.  Add $15 at check-in.)
