Marathon & 50 Mile Endurance Run

6:00 A.M.

    

Start:    Mitchell Canyon Trailhead, Mount Diablo State Park, Clayton, CA.  Directions

Course:     The course makes a thorough tour of Mount Diablo including Eagle Peak, Castle Rock, Rock City, Balancing Rock, North Peak, and Mt. Olympia.  ( Distances are accurately measured using a Rolatape® measuring wheel.)

Elevation Gain:  13,850 feet.  (Elevation changes determined using an Avocet altimeter.)

 

Lodging: Hotels & Motels

Packet Pick-Up:     5:00 a.m. - 5:30 a.m. at Mitchell Canyon Trailhead.  Park entrance is $2. 

Qualification:  Completion of 50 Km trail run within prior 12 months required for 50 mile event.

Time Limit:    18 Hours for 50 mile event. (Note: Sarah ran a "relaxed" time trial on 3/16/02 in 16 hours 36 minutes.)

Aid Stations:   Fully-stocked aid stations every 4 - 9 miles.   You can expect fresh fruit, salty snacks, assorted candy, Clif Bars, Clif Shots, boiled potatoes & salt, water, and Conquest sports drink.  However, it is mandatory that runners carry at least one water bottle and highly recommended to carry two.  

Awards:   Performance finisher's t-shirt.  Embroidered duffle bag to first place female and male finishers.  Each entrant will receive a deep-etched Diablo 50 coffee mug.

PCTR Discounts:

15% - If this is your first Pacific Coast Trail Runs event, please deduct 15%.

10% - If you have entered at least 3 PCTR events, please deduct 10% from this entry.

 

Entry Fees:   

Marathon - $40 (Includes shuttle from Live Oak)

50 Mile -     $55

            (Add $10 if post marked after April 3, 2004)

Volunteer:   Earn a free entry into a PCTR event by helping at one of our trail runs.   Please send us an e-mail to volunteer.

Message Board:  The purpose of this online Message Board is to provide a forum for PCTR runners to communicate with fellow runners and share information (i.e., rides to PCTR events, lodging requests, and favorite local restaurants).
