Whether you're considering trail running for the first time or are an experienced ultra runner, we promise you a rewarding experience in a beautiful environment. We are recognized for the spectacular courses, unsurpassed aid stations, well-marked trails, accurately measured distances, distinctive shirt designs, and friendly atmosphere – all at a reasonable price. While awards are given to the first female and male finishers, PCTR events are designed to encourage the enjoyment of trail running and emphasize personal achievement.
Start: Saratoga Gap, Skyline Boulevard (CA-35) at Hwy 9, Los Gatos, CA. Directions Course: The popular Skyline to the Sea Trail runs from the crest of the Santa Cruz Mountains at Saratoga Gap through Big Basin Redwoods State Park, the oldest park in California (est. 1902), and ends at the Pacific Ocean at Waddell Beach. It travels through tall redwoods and high chaparral along the way. Gain - 3,000' Loss - 5,580' (Elevation changes determined using an Avocet altimeter.) Weather: Boulder Creek Lodging: Hotels/Motels, Camping Packet Pick-Up: 8:00 a.m. - 8:45 a.m. at Saratoga Gap, Skyline Blvd. (No parking at Saratoga Gap. Runners should either be dropped off at Saratoga Gap or take the shuttle service from Hwy 1.) Shuttle Service: 7:00 a.m. from Hwy 1 (near Finish, Directions) to Saratoga Gap (Start). The bus shuttle is $10 and is not included in your entry fee. Runners' warm clothing (one jacket & pants, ONLY) will be transported to the finish area. Please note that parking at Saratoga Gap is prohibited. Time Limit: 8 hours Aid Stations: Fully-stocked aid stations every 7 - 14 kilometers. You can expect fresh fruit, salty snacks, assorted candy, boiled potatoes & salt, water, and Clif Shot Electrolyte sports drink. If you would like to be sure that you have Clif product, SaltStick capsules, or any other specific item at the event, you should carry it with you. Additionally, it is highly recommended that runners carry at least 20 oz. of water between aid stations. Photo Post-run Picnic: Soup and Chili! Photo Awards: Patagonia Capilene shirts will be given to all finishers. While awards are given to the first female and male finishers, PCTR events are designed to encourage the enjoyment of trail running and emphasize personal achievement.
